At Hyfield Trucking, safety is at the core of everything we do. That’s why we want to remind all our contractors that the CVSA Operation Safe Driver Week is scheduled for July 13–19, 2025. This annual event is part of a nationwide initiative to improve the driving behaviors of both passenger vehicle drivers and commercial motor vehicle (CMV) operators through outreach, education, and increased law enforcement presence.
What Is Operation Safe Driver Week?
Operation Safe Driver Week is organized by the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) and supported by law enforcement agencies across North America. During this week, officers will be on heightened alert, watching for unsafe driving behaviors—especially among CMV drivers.

Focus for 2025: Reckless and Careless Driving
This year’s spotlight is on reckless, careless, or dangerous driving. According to the CVSA:
Reckless driving is defined as willfully operating a vehicle in a way that shows disregard for the safety of others.
Careless or dangerous driving occurs when someone drives without paying full attention or consideration to other motorists and pedestrians.
Examples include:
Speeding or aggressive lane changes
Distracted driving (texting, eating, etc.)
Failing to yield or stop
Following too closely
Why It Matters
