Check Your Permit Book & IFTA Stickers

At Hyfield Trucking, we work hard to keep everything organized and accessible for you — but it’s still your responsibility to make sure your permit book is current and your IFTA stickers and paperwork are up to date in your truck.

A fellow expediter (not in the Hyfield fleet) shared something that happened to them today, and it’s a good reminder for all of us.

What Happened

They rolled through a weigh station west of Oklahoma City and were pulled in. The initial reason? No front license plate. (Ohio doesn’t require one, so that wasn’t an issue.)

But here’s where it turned:

  • They were asked for truck paperwork and BOL.

  • They had the current IFTA stickers on the truck.

  • They did NOT have the updated IFTA paperwork printed.

  • They were fined $125.

  • They spent over an hour dealing with payment through a DOT system.

Apparently, their carrier had sent out a message telling drivers to download updated paperwork — but they never received it.

The lesson?

Stickers alone are not enough. You must have the proper paperwork printed and inside your permit book.

✅ What You Should Do Right Now

Take 10 minutes today and verify:

  • ✔️ Your current IFTA stickers are properly displayed.

  • ✔️ Your permit book is updated with the latest paperwork.

  • ✔️ Nothing is missing, expired, or outdated.

  • ✔️ Your paperwork is printed — not just stored digitally.

📲 Where to Find Your Paperwork

At Hyfield, we make this easy:

You can access all required truck paperwork:

  • Through the Hyfield Trucking Mobile App

  • Or by visiting the Hyfield website and logging into your account

Everything you need is there — but it must be downloaded and printed for your truck.

If you’re not seeing updated documents:

  • Make sure your app is updated.

  • Log out and back in if necessary.

  • Reach out to the Media Director (Jerry) if you still have issues.

Why This Matters

Weigh stations and DOT inspections are not the time to realize something is missing.

Even when:

  • Your stickers are correct

  • Your license plate situation is legal

  • You’ve done nothing intentionally wrong

You can still be fined if paperwork isn’t physically present.

A small oversight can:

  • Cost money

  • Waste valuable time

  • Delay your load

  • Create unnecessary stress
