📅 Dates: May 13–15, 2025
🔍 Focus Areas: Tire Safety & False Records of Duty Status (RODS)
Each year, the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) conducts a 72-hour inspection blitz known as International Roadcheck. This year, the spotlight is on tires and accurate logging of hours of service.
Here’s what to expect and how to stay compliant.
🕒 1. Hours-of-Service Logs & False Records

HOS regulations exist to keep fatigued drivers off the road. But these rules only work when your logs are accurate and up-to-date.
Inspectors will be watching for:
🔌 Tampered or disconnected ELDs
👻 Ghost drivers (claiming a co-driver when there isn’t one)
🚙 Improper use of personal conveyance
🌨️ Misuse of adverse driving condition exceptions
💼 Off-duty time while still working for a carrier
💬 Tip: If you’re unsure about how to properly log something, ask! Anyone at Hyfield Trucking can assist, or reach out to your carrier.
🛞 2. Tire Maintenance Checks

A blown tire on the highway isn’t just a delay—it’s a serious hazard.
Inspectors will be checking for:
🔹 Low tread depth
🔹 Air leaks
🔹 Flat or underinflated tires
🔹 Visible belt material or casing ply
🔹 Tread or sidewall separation
🔹 Sidewall bulges
🔹 Improper repairs (like rubber plugs in the sidewall)
🔹 Objects lodged between dual tires
🛠️ Reminder: Pre-trip inspections are your first line of defense. Don’t let a small issue turn into a DOT violation.
✅ Stay Ahead of the Game
At Hyfield Trucking, we want all our teams to stay safe and avoid costly delays. Take a few extra minutes this week to:
Double-check your log accuracy
Thoroughly inspect your tires
